My name is Shane and I speak the language of food.
I am an entrepreneur, researcher, and photojournalist interested in using design and innovation to solve creative food challenges using human-centered solutions. I am a world traveler and researcher who understands food and nutrition on a molecular scale, but also from a socio ecological perspective. I am passionate about food justice and working with underserved populations.
I have a Masters in Public Health, Nutrition with a Global Health specialty from UC Berkeley. I have worked in 15 countries (and counting) researching and developing empathetic projects with organizations, such as the World Health Organization, Harpo Productions (Oprah’s “Belief” Series), Oakland Unified School District, UC San Francisco, Gourmet Walks, Bi-Rite Market, UC Berkeley’s Center of Global Public Health, and Instacart.
I love food because it builds community, fastens memories, and nourishes me. Nothing brings people together in the same way food does; the need to consume food is something that everyone has in common.
About SF Eats in SF:
Shane Fallon Eats in San Francisco (SF Eats in SF) is an online food journal that connects people to places by sharing authentic food experiences from the kitchens of San Francisco. I have expanded the scope of this website to include international photojournalism projects that provoke discourse on public health and social issues in countries like Peru, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, and Germany.
Fun with Shane
I have been a local food tour guide in SF for Gourmet Walks since 2012. I use tasty storytelling to customize an engaging and educational food experience. Yes, I'm happy to give you food recommendations!
Perhaps my favorite avocations are food photography, rock climbing, creative writing, yoga, and mulling over what to cook for dinner in my edible, urban garden.
