My name is Shane and I speak the language of food.
Shane Fallon Eats in San Francisco (SF Eats in SF) launched in 2012 when I starting leading gastronomy tours around San Francisco for Gourmet Walks. This blog, which began as a pursuit to document my culinary adventures around my hometown (SF), has since evolved to provoke discourse on public health and social issues - with food being the common denominator.
With a pre-med background and a Masters of Public Health in Nutrition and Global Health from UC Berkeley, I am curious about food from a scientific, historic, social, and cultural perspective.
I have worked in 15 countries (and counting) researching and developing content with organizations and companies such as Harpo Productions (Oprah’s “Belief” Series), the World Health Organization, Bi-Rite Market, UC Berkeley’s Center of Global Public Health, and Instacart.
To me, food is about community as well as taste. Nothing brings people together in the same way food does; the need to consume food is something that everyone has in common.
