San Francisco is not the only place I’ve lived, but it’s the only place I’ve called home
Hi! My name is Shane Fallon and I was born in my home in San Francisco–the same home that I still live in. I grew up frequenting the farmer’s market on Saturdays with my mother, and having weeknight rituals like Tuesday burrito night and steamed artichokes with homemade pizza on Friday nights.
My San Francisco home is an unofficial mini hostel, rotating full of friends that I’ve met through my work and research, which has taken me around the world. Always playing tour guide, people come to me asking what to do and where to eat in SF.
In 2013, after returning to SF from an 8-month work project that took me to 13 countries in Asia, I decided to become an official food tour guide. Thus began the genesis of Shane Fallon Eats in San Francisco (SF Eats in SF), which highlights my favorite places to eat in San Francisco and around the world.
Today, SF Eats in SF is where I share my San Francisco life
Weekends are spent with my father tending to our urban garden, meal planning, and cooking with my husband Tobi and son Levi.
When Tobi and I aren’t hovering around the stove, trying to bake the perfect loaf of tangy San Francisco sourdough, we are adventuring in our California backyard with our son.
My work in Public Health
I have a Masters in Public Health, Nutrition with a Global Health specialty from UC Berkeley. When I’m not thinking about food, I’m fueling my other passion, which is to make world-class health care accessible for all. Some places I’ve worked are Carbon Health and Virta Health.
I approach my work with empathy and creativity to address the social determinants of health. You can take a peek at some of the Public Health projects I’ve worked on here.
