If you’ve visiting Bend, Oregon, there is a good chance you are going to Smith Rock, the alleged birthplace of sport climbing. This natural wonder, home to bald eagles, ospreys, and other high-desert animals, attracts climbers from all over the world. Just a thirty minute drive away is Bend, Oregon, where you can find an unpretentious assortment of delicious bar food, bakeries, and fusion cuisine.

Spork

Spork fuses Mexican and Asian cuisines together with a very Oregon take. We debated coming here every day because the food was just that good - and also very inexpensive. The peanut stew is incredibly filling and delicious. They also offer their food to-go if you want to take it the crag with you.

The Sparrow Bakery

The croissant is life at The Sparrow Bakery! Buttery, thick, many layers, and perfect for holding its hefty contents together. You can get this scrumptious poached egg, pesto, and arugula sandwich with or without bacon. They are also known for their cardamom vanilla “Ocean roll”. The line will probably be long when you arrive, so plan accordingly.

Bangers and Brews

Bangers and Brews has exceptionally nice customer service, a relaxed atmosphere to watch sports, and offers a bevy of tap beer to pair with meat or vegan sausages. Pro tip: skip the bun and order a salad (as pictured above on the left).

Bend Brewing Company

After a day of climbing, you will certainly want to spend a decent amount of time exploring the hundreds of breweries in Bend. Bend Brewing Company is conveniently located downtown and right on the riverfront. You can sit here, watch the river, and in the summer, seek shade under the large trees in their outdoor area.
